Part of Illamasqua’s limited edition Vanitas collection - which influences lie in the ‘dark romance of 17th century still-life paintings’ - the Rose Gold Palette combines a beautiful and unique range of pale rose hues, deep plums and earthy neutrals in a lightweight packaging that looks like it was literally dipped in gold.
Starting with the most important part: the shadows. The palette consists of twelve shades (nine mattes and three shimmers) and before receiving it I had heard that Illamasqua shadows were often a little harder to work with, but that was not the case at all. The stunning range of colours allows you to create a look for any occasion: whether it’s natural and romantic combinations for every day use or more dramatic looks for when you really want to steal the show, this palette will not let you down. My stand out shades include Terra (a beautiful, buttery clay red perfect for warming up looks), Obsidian (the most pigmented black eye shadow I’ve ever used), Tango (the perfect copper-bronze), Forgiveness (gorgeous mauve shade, I mostly use it as a transition or crease colour) and Stealth (the perfect matte brow bone highlight for my super pale skin). The only real problem I have with any of the shades is that the lightest shimmer, Slink, doesn't show up on my skin. Although, it does add a beautiful, subtle sparkle when applied on top of darker shades.

(From bottom to top: Slink, Stealth, Servant, Vernau, Bronx, Wolf, Forgiveness, Fist, Rim, Tango, Terra and Obsidian)
Tip: Applying the shimmer shadows with a damp brush creates a more intense, high shine metallic finish. I like to spritz some of my All Nighter Setting Spray by Urban Decay onto a small, firm shadow brush before dipping in and applying.
I have to admit the packaging didn’t blow me away from the get-go. The cardboard casing at first seems very fragile but provides a very sleek and lightweight feel. Not forgetting the gorgeous rose gold exterior, providing a undeniable sense of elegance that more that makes up for not feeling like you can just throw it in your handbag.

Overall, I would definitely recommend trying to get your hands on this palette if it ever restocks. The unique range of shadows and beautiful pigmentation has quickly made the Rose Gold Palette my go-to and I find myself struggling to switch it up and not to use it every single day. Plus it's cruelty free!
