One of the most sought after beauty buys of the last year, Anastasia Beverly Hills’ Modern Renaissance palette was quickly propelled to cult status thanks to it’s phenomenal pigmentation and intensely creamy textures. Inspired by the art of the renaissance era, the brands first permanent palette showcases the most beautiful neutral and berry tones, housed within incredibly luxurious, pinky-mauve suede coated compact.

Consisting of fourteen brand new shades (11 ultra-matte and 3 metallic), the Modern Renaissance palette is a perfect mix of berries and warm tones and when I first saw the colour range I was completely blown away; The super buildable, blend-able and buttery formula allowing you to create a look for any occasion, whatever your desired intensity. Whether it’s a more subtle and neutral look or something more bold and colorful, anything is possible. The matte shades are consistently smooth and highly pigmented; the metallic shadows feel almost like a cream and give off the most gorgeous shine, which can be easily intensified with the use of a damp brush. Some of my most loved shades include Burnt Orange (ultra-matte deep orange), Realgar (deep orange matte), Red Ochre (brick-red matte), Cyprus Umber (rich chocolate brown matte), Love Letter (ultra-matte raspberry) and Venetian Red (cranberry matte with the slightest hint of shimmer).

(From left to right: Tempera, Golden Ochre, Vermeer, Buon Fresco, Antique Bronze, Love Letter, Cyprus Umber, Raw Sienna, Burnt Orange, Primavera, Red Ochre, Venetian Red, Warm Taupe and Realgar)
It’s incredibly hard to find fault with this palette but one thing I would say is that because the shadows are so soft and immensely pigmented, you do get a fair bit of powder kick-up when you’re dip your brush in. This may lead to hitting pan quicker than with other palettes, but I’d just advise that you work gently and don’t go in with a heavy hand, tapping off your brush to minimise fall-out.

The Modern Renaissance palette is the first product from Anastasia Beverly Hills that I’ve tried, and it definitely won’t be the last. The creators said that they wanted to create a palette that was ‘useful to your daily life once it's no longer brand new’ and to me, there is no doubt that this masterpiece will stand the test of time. The consistency and quality of the shadows are honestly unlike anything I’ve worked with before. It’s the only thing I’ve wanted to use since I got my hands on it and a must-have in every collection.
